**Problem Identification and Research

Besides, it is increasingly becoming clear that we suffer from a problem of homelessness in our neighborhood evident by increasing numbers of people without permanent dwellings. Some of the causes of homelessness include poverty, lack of affordable housing, unemployment, and mental illness (National Alliance to End Homelessness 2022). Inadequate shelters and supportive services in our community only make matters worse. The research by Homelessness Task Force (2021) shows that if nothing is done about homelessness, it can lead to severe health consequences, increased crime rates, and reduced community welfare. A survey conducted in our area indicated that slightly above 30% of the respondents think that homelessness is very important indicating need for action now (Community Survey 2023). The solutions should involve provision of immediate shelter, linkage to social support systems as well as long-term approaches to affordable housing and employment interventions.
